Seeking Division Chair, Nonproliferation & Arms Control (NAC)

The Division Chair provides strategic leadership to the Division on behalf of the Institute while serving as the Institute’s focal point for promoting the advancement of research and development efforts in support of international arms control and nonproliferation through applying nuclear materials research and management to arms control, nonproliferation, and treaty verification, as well as to transparency measures aimed at furthering international stability..

Primary Duties:

    • Lead strategic planning activities related to NAC activities to align the Institute with future direction and needs in the area of nonproliferation and arms control
    • Plan, organize and coordinate INMM NAC workshops, outreach, and activities
    • Prepare written reports on Division activities for each Executive Committee meeting, and for inclusion in INMM publications and Communicator Blog
    • Submit Division annual budget needs during the request from the Institute Treasurer
    • Attend INMM Executive Committee Meetings to represent Division (three per year)
    • Participate as a member of the Technical Program Committee for the Annual Meeting:
      • Review abstracts for papers to be presented as part of technical program
      • Group abstracts into sessions
      • Identify session chairs
      • Assist the Technical Program Chair as needed at the Annual Meeting
    • Solicit and provide papers for consideration for publication in the Journal of Nuclear Materials Management
      • Provide NAC Division representatives to serve as reviewers for JNMM submissions
    • Provide periodic input or develop informational articles for INMM publications
    • Conduct a Division Technical meeting prior to the start of each Annual Meeting
    • Contribute to and implement pertinent strategic plan initiatives of the Institute
    • Mentor and seek opportunities to increase next generation participation of INMM members and leaders
    • Plan and conduct routine topical workshops and/or seminars on relevant INMM nonproliferation and arms control topics
    • Work closely with the Technical Division Oversight Chair and other Technical Division Chairs for cross-disciplinary collaborations
    • Promote international participation and engagement within the division

Primary Interfaces

    • Technical Division Oversight Chair – routine interaction and strategic planning
    • Executive Committee– three meetings per year; keep the EC informed throughout the year about division activities and issues that require executive input.
    • Subcommittee chairs – routine and ongoing
    • NAC Stakeholders – to maintain currency on division topics, trends, and technologies
