This is my first chance to contribute to the Communicator since November 2008, when I succeeded Grace Thompson as chair of the INMM Membership Committee. Grace is not gone; she has gone on to loftier duties as a member-at-large with the INMM Executive Committee.

As discussed in more detail elsewhere in this edition, this year’s INMM Annual Meeting will culminate the year-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Institute. Make your plans now to attend the INMM 50th Annual Meeting, July 12-16, in Tucson, Ariz. USA. INMM members get reduced meeting registration rates.
In early March, the Institute held a Technical Program Committee meeting to begin the detailed planning for the annual meeting and the logistics of scheduling individual sessions. The number of abstracts that were submitted is phenomenal. The annual meeting is scheduled to be four and a half days of high quality, up-to-date information regarding the management of nuclear materials.

Recently, a broadcast e-mail was sent from INMM to solicit applications and encourage qualified INMM members to apply as Senior Members. The application deadline is April 12. In addition, since the last edition of the Communicator, the Membership Committee has had the privilege of reviewing the applications of and approving 51 new members. I encourage all new members and existing members to get involved in the six INMM technical divisions and in regional chapter and student chapter activities. The names of these new members are listed at the end of this report.

For those of you who joined INMM since our last annual meeting, mark your calendars for our New Member/New Senior Member Reception on Monday, July 13, during the 50th Annual Meeting. I hope that all of you will attend. This reception is an opportunity for you to meet the Executive Committee and other officers of INMM, as well as our opportunity to welcome all of the new members and honor those who have recently been selected as Senior Members. If you are a new member or new Senior Member, you will receive an invitation in your annual meeting registration packet with the details.

As always, if you find the name of a colleague on the list of new members below, be sure to welcome them and let them know of the ways that you find your INMM membership valuable. And, remember to keep your own contact information up to date in our online directory. Modifying the database to reflect your most recent contact information is easy and takes only a few minutes. Your changes with be reflected in the online directory automatically.

I welcome news (and photographs when possible) to keep your colleagues informed about any INMM member, including you, Send any items of interest to either me at albert.garrett@pnl.gov or our Communicator Editor, Brian Boyer at bboyer@lanl.gov. See you at the Annual Meeting!
