INMM is saddened by the loss of INMM Secretary Vince DeVito.
One of his favorite roles for INMM was that of chair of the Annual Golf Outing at the INMM Annual Meeting. He served in this role for many years. He also served as the unofficial historian for INMM. His long membership and his years of active involvement in the Institute made him a fount of information on all INMM activities. |

Mr. DeVito was a safeguards consultant for DOE contractors beginning in 1989, when he retired from the DOE Uranium Enrichment Plant in Piketon, Ohio. Before his retirement, he held various positions at the plant for Martin Marietta Energy Systems and Goodyear Atomic Corp. He was director of site operations and was responsible for the plant's production and maintenance divisions, as well as plant security, shift operations and emergency preparedness organizations. He also held positions as superintendent of nuclear materials control; manager, safeguards and security division; manager, production division; and vice president, business services. Mr. DeVito received a degree in business administration in 1949 from The Ohio State University. |

Mr. DeVito had five living children; sons, Gerald, Daniel and Vincent DeVito, Jr.; daughters Dr. Victoria DeVito and Angela DeVito. He was preceded in death by his step-son, Jack Doyle, his step-daughter, Diane Doyle Howells, and his beloved wife Jeanne, to whom he was married for 55 years. He had 14 grandchildren.

VINCENT J. DEVITO became a member of INMM in 1960 and held the position of secretary from 1973. He has also served as the Public Relations Chair, and served on various ad hoc committees. Mr. DeVito received the INMM Distinguished Service award in 1984 and was made a Fellow of the Institute in 1987. He received the Special Services award in 1997 and the Meritorious Service award in 2000 for his tireless and essential service to the Institute as secretary.
