The INMM has six technical divisions that serve the needs of the subspecialties within the broader nuclear materials management field.
- International Safeguards
- Materials Control and Accountability
- Nonproliferation and Arms Control
- Packaging and Transportation
- Physical Protection
- Waste Management
Each of these divisions is the focal point for information and activities within that specialty. The technical divisions:
- Provide advice to the INMM Executive Committee on issues that affect the technical divisions
- Help design the technical program for the Institute's Annual Meeting
- Encourage the publication of articles in their topical areas
- Organize topical workshops, seminars and educational activities
